Our chances of keeping the car and having a mobile house is looking slimmer and slimmer. I understand the car is falling apart but it is so much scarier to have to walk to our destinations. We will have to pack lighter, a hell of a lot lighter if the car is taken away. My dad might let us have the familt tent which is great but it will take time to put up which and to take apart. Of course if we can't keep the car it will allow us to get into places that we wouldn't be able to go with the car.
We are not prepared to treck across America at all. Carrying around two jugs of water, bottles of water, our computer, our clothing, the tent, dog food, canned foods, pillow and blankets, toiletries, and things like that. We just aren't ready for that. And Maggie is not ready for that either. She is afraid of dogs and new things, she doesn't walk well, and she has a listening problem. But I love her and I know that if we had the car we could keep her but I am not sure if we can if we are walking.

August 24, 2010
On the 26th the power will be shut off and the beginning of everything will begin. It been really hot here and yesterday it got up to 101 F. I'm hoping that it will be cooler today. But if it isn't then we will just have to drink a lot of water. We also remembered we have a fridge and so we have to clean it out today so that the stuff doesn't go bad and then stink up the place. So we have a lot of cleaning and a lot of organizing to do for the yard sale. I'm worried about the Honda though, she has been over heating again and if we go to Arizona and Texas where it is really hot I am hoping that she doesn't break down on us. The desert is unforgiving and we would die...or crisp. So I am afraid that the Honda might not withstand the stress we will be putting on her. Well, here's hoping we make it through the beginning of this thing.

So it is official, we will be homeless next month. Power is getting shut off and so is the internet. With no heating, no power to cool food, and no way to make money we are going to go on the road and try and find a spot to settle down for the winter. We are hoping that we can make a trip to Colorado before winter hits there that way we can figure out where some other travellers are. We are hoping to barter and trade for some things we might need, and we are hoping to find out where some good places to camp are.
While we are afraid for the future because this is something we are not familiar with we are also slightly excited. Its like an adventure, and we are terrified and anxious about it at the same time.
We are going to hold a huge garage sale and sell most of our stuff and then we are off on our adventure...and hopefully we can make it. We are planning our trip to start at Checotah, OK that way we can save a few things that we can't sell- fridge and stove. After that we are going to Berryville, AR to find Dr. Grandpa who will hopefully help us with some info on gardening. And maybe we can get a few vegies to eat on our way to Colorado to meet Trae's cousins. And hopefully more travellers. After that we are planning to go to Tucson, AZ to see my family. I am going to try and get information on horses and some other things. And maybe my family can help me train my dog for what is going to happen.
Another surprise we are not sure about is if we will have the Honda or not. Trae's dad might not let us take it as shelter out of this town, and if that happens we are walking wherever we are. And that can, and will, be dangerous. Cars, other dogs, ignorant fanatics, heat, cold, and other harmful things. If things get to bad then we will have to travel to a rescue and give Maggie to them. I am hoping that never happens, I want her to be with us through all this...I love her. She is my baby girl and I will not lose her without a hard, hard fight.
So I am going to write on here every chance I get so that you all can keep up with our trip.
